About Sarah
I became a celebrant because I lost a very very dear friend to cancer. She was a wild, funny big hearted wonderful woman who always seemed to get to the brilliant ideas before anyone else. I was asked to speak at her funeral. It was an overwhelmingly packed service with standing room only and I loved every minute of being able to celebrate my dear friend in the way she would have wanted, with wit and warmth - I could almost hear her full throttled laughter as I spoke and it was that experience that led me to become a celebrant - she showed me the way and for that I am always so very grateful
I am a South London girl born and bred and still live in the house I grew up in in Streatham.
My world for many years has been in the performing arts and continues to run alongside my celebrant work. I performed on stage for many years and now direct theatre. I have written shows, edited Shakespeare, sung my heart out and performed stand-up comedy.
Music has played a huge part in my life and continues to do so, having performed in opera, West end shows , tours and concerts - I am always very happy to sing in ceremonies whether it be classical, contemporary , leading hymns or even a jolly sing-a-long.
Running a comedy night in Kings Cross for 5years was full of high's- hosting acts and performing comedy- the pressure to deliver the funny was so intense but I relished the spontaneity of the live crowd even if it didn’t always go as planned!
Floristry is another great passion - this began as a happy accident at 16years when I lucked out finding a well paid Saturday job and is still a passion today -
If I am talking about me I cant sign off without mentioning cats - I currently have three temperamental girls and I love them!
I am very much a people person….. who loves a good story. I am honoured to add celebrant to the list of things I do - a simple extension of my existing skills which I whole heartedly bring to the table as I really love creating the best ceremony possible .
